What are the different practical and stylish kitchen seating options?
There are a variety of different and effective options to consider when adding seating to your kitchen. These options include:
- Creating built in seating
- Extended kitchen island seating
- Adding a kitchen table
In built kitchen seating
In built kitchen seating can be a very effective option for any medium to large kitchen space. This type of seating involves removing some cabinets and worktop space to add in seating. There are a number of design options here including:
- Creating booth seating- booth seating is both comfortable and incredibly stylish. This will use low bench style seating with a table in front, or in between two benches, at an appropriate height. Booth style seating can be a great addition to any traditional or contemporary kitchen, thanks to the flexible design style.
- Breakfast bar seating- a more simplistic way to create in built seating in your kitchen is to add a breakfast bar. The easiest way to achieve this is to keep the work surface in place, but remove the upper and lower kitchen cabinets. This creates a table surface with space below for bar stools to be neatly tucked underneath when not in use. This type of seating is more casual.
Extended kitchen island seating
Extending the kitchen island is a great way to add functional and stylish seating to your kitchen. This option provides the greatest flexibility in terms of size for your kitchen table, determining how many people can share the kitchen seating space at once. The surface of the kitchen island can be lowered for the extension, to create a kitchen table at the right height, perfect for four to six people. In medium to large kitchens, this can be a very practical kitchen seating option.
Adding a kitchen table
A kitchen table can be the easiest option to add seating to your kitchen, but this is only practical if your kitchen has the space.
